Bilingual Junior Developer

This entry-level position will provide an opportunity to expand and deepen one’s software engineering skills while contributing to a world-class language-learning platform supporting over 1 million students in online education. Working with experienced members of our development team, you will contribute enhancements and bug fixes for applications serving millions of users, develop tools to support internal workflows, learn Ruby on Rails and AWS, and be mentored on development best practices within an agile, test-driven team.

Responsibilities:

• Develop enhancements and bug fixes for a suite of high-traffic B2C applications
• Create unit and system tests to exercise your changes
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and QA teams in scoping, development, and validation of changes
• Develop scripts and applications to automate internal business workflows
• Participate in pair-programming and code review exercises within engineering team
• Contribute as part of an Agile Scrum process

Required Skills

• Working knowledge of computer networks and core internet technologies (DNS, HTTP/S, HTML, JS, CSS)
• Familiarity with databases, SQL, and object modeling
• Familiarity with pair-programming and code review processes
• Comfort with a command line terminal
• Working knowledge of git and git workflows
• Good communication skills (written and verbal)
• Eagerness to jump-in to new problems and learn new technologies

Position Details:

• Education: Degree in Information Systems Technology, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related fields
• Work Model: Hybrid (2 days on-site / 3 days remote) – Medellín
• Contract Type: Permanent (Indefinite-term contract)
